On Drunken Starlets cont'd

Reading some old posts, I was reminded of the drunken starlets theme
and I am happy to have a new one to share with you.
Not that I am so happy that she was drunken, but it figures that when I take an interest in a classic beauty, turns out there is a section  in her bio called, "the Tragic Years."
You see, the other day I was back on Netflix scanning for a Classic movie to sing me to sleep
and chose this one called, "Carmen Jones."
I'm thinking woman of color in the lead of this old film?
Let's go.
And so began my schooling. Hello.
Dorothy Dandridge.
Singing duets with a young Harry Belafonte? Lord have mercy.
Thems is some pretty people.
Like I said, not so thrilled to hear of the heavy drinking, but sad to say talent attracts it.
I will definitely being modeling some of my latest disheveled updos off of this most beautiful drunken starlett.

Pardon My Ignorance

Apparently, my former post about No Church in the Wild is somewhat invalid.
I do stand by what I said regarding that video and even interpretation of the song and video.
But.
But.
But.
That was not the official video. This is.
And can I say, I am bit relieved.
That other video was a bit too, I can't believe I am saying this...racey.
I feel much more comfortable with the racially mixed youth culture standing up to the so called authority. Versus such racially charged divisions between black and white that involve stringing up my baby daddy.
Nonetheless, the underlying message remains.
How far authority will go to keep those who go against the social norms, to keep them under control.
And for those charting a new way, the only safe place is in one's beliefs.
Aside of the blabbering.
Yo, this shit is pretty real. It completely reminds me of the London riots last year.
Like forreal.

It's making me combustable.

Rookie Basketball Commentary

And really, I have been waiting for this moment all season.
By the skin of my teeth, I ended up staying loyal to one team through out the season.
My dear Sixers.
Who I strangely related to the culture of all along.
Even though It meant coming on too strong at first and then disappointing.
All the way to coming through after I had given up thinking my boys didn't care.
And so, XO my cuties.
Such a good show from my young boys.
Absolutely smoochie.
But.....the moment I~ have been waiting for all season.
When all the big ballers are out front, just ballin.
Tonight Thunder V. Spurs was all that had me swoonin at the bar.
Was some ballers in there poppin bottles and all I was thinkin was thank God the TV is on.
Sizzle Sizzle.
Cuz I was like, is the Thunder gonna take it like my boy Joshua,
or will the Spurs keep whisperin how I should move to ~TexAS........

On Fair Weather Fans

Well. So here we are in Philadelphia.
May 26. So hot I am like, keep your distance boys.
Only the coolest one knows where to find me now.

So what I am sayin is.
This Basketball season is rolling to a close.
And these Sixers I signed on to follow have had quite a ride.
Tomorrow night, game 7, in the 2nd round of the Playoffs v. Celtics.
These young boys makin it this far by showin me what I like best.
Team work. Yesiree.
No straight out front star, they makin it too far for a top draft pick.
Now, I may have drifted in and out this season like a fair weather fan, but
truth be told. I kept my ear close enough to know this.
My Valetine, Jru Holiday has kept heart through out.
That's right. I picked a good one Ma.
Even in some of the losing-est games, Jru was giving up some numbers.
Shout out to this cutie pie. Cuz I been hearing his name all season.
You can be my Valentine anytime.

This is where I throw off the trend of all the bashing and heckling I do, and share something positive.
Hip-hop as an international movement and a way to bring about Unity among diverse cultures and backgrounds is occurring and effective.

International hip-hop consistently blends breaks with indigenous music in a way that works.
I fucks wit it.
